FNKD (Friends of North Kigezi Diocese) is a UK-based charity sponsoring children in Uganda. We support vulnerable children in Uganda through education, life skills, and essential care, giving them the chance to break the cycle of poverty.
Reaching out to God's children in South Western Uganda

FNKD works in a small area of South Western Uganda (at the top of the Rift Valley, (‘at the end of the tarmac’) a forgotten corner which seems a million miles from Kampala.
Our work is based around a Children’s Centre in the village of Bucence. From this hub our dedicated Ugandan staff support the wider community with educational care packages and other projects to reduce local poverty.
FNKD stands for the Friends of North Kigezi Diocese which is the name of the area of the local Church of Uganda with whom we have close association.

Children’s Transition Centre
- Care packages for children in crisis through sponsorships and donations.
- Holistic, nurturing residential care for as long as a child needs it.
- Wrap around care with specialist staff and local ‘aunties’.
- Working towards an appropriate placement for a return to the community.
Education & Child Development
- Educational sponsorships for village children.
- Uniform distribution and scholastic materials.
- Refurbishing and upgrading of school buildings.
Community Engagement and Support
- Centre Days where sponsored children can come together for activities and to write letters to their sponsors as well as fellowship, counselling and support from FNKD staff.

Water, Sanitation and Health
- Rain water harvesting systems and well construction.
